Editorial standards

Source hierarchy

State statutes, regulations, operator-certification pages, applications, forms, and exam bulletins control credential claims. EPA controls explanations of the federal operator-certification framework and national drinking water rules. Training vendors and trade organizations can add context but do not replace an authority.

Variable claims

Class names, system classifications, fees, exam rules, experience, OIT status, renewal cycles, training hours, approved courses, reciprocity, and processing times require a current direct source. If that review is incomplete, the claim does not publish.

AI use

Software and AI may help organize research. They are not authorities. A cited source must be opened and the claim checked before publication. We do not create fictitious operators, experts, credentials, testimonials, or citations.

Commercial independence

Content must not imply a WaterTreatmentPath product is required by a state or EPA. Paid material, when available, is independent study planning, not an official exam, certification, approved CEU course, or guarantee.

Corrections and retirement

Material errors are corrected promptly. Pages are retired when sources cannot support them or maintenance is not reliable. The original generated state pages were retired under this rule.
